Services

Five practices. One senior team.

From a two-week architecture review to a multi-year platform build, every engagement is staffed with engineers who have shipped this kind of system before.

01 — Custom Software Development

Applications built around your business, not a template.

Off-the-shelf software is a bargain right up until the point your process stops fitting inside it. We build the systems that carry the parts of your business no vendor understands — underwriting rules, scheduling logic, pricing engines, regulated workflows — and we build them to be handed off.

Every project ships with an automated test suite, continuous deployment, and documentation written for the engineer who inherits it two years from now.

  • Customer-facing web and mobile applications
  • Internal tools, admin consoles, and operations platforms
  • API design, integration, and partner-facing services
  • Accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) and performance budgets as acceptance criteria

02 — Cloud & Platform Engineering

Infrastructure your team can operate on a Tuesday.

Cloud spend rarely gets out of hand because of one bad decision; it gets away through a hundred small ones nobody had time to revisit. We audit what you are running, rebuild it as code, and put the guardrails in place so the next hundred decisions are cheap ones.

The goal is never a platform only we can run. Every engagement includes pairing time with your engineers and a written operations manual.

  • Architecture and migration on any of the major clouds
  • Infrastructure as code and containerized delivery pipelines
  • Observability: structured logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting that pages the right person
  • Cost optimization and reliability reviews with measured before-and-after numbers

03 — Data & AI Engineering

Numbers your leadership team stops arguing about.

Most companies do not have a dashboard problem — they have a definitions problem. We start by agreeing on what a customer, an order, and a dollar of revenue actually mean, then build the pipelines and models that compute them the same way every time.

On the AI side we are deliberately unromantic. We look for the narrow, boring problems where a language model genuinely beats the alternative — document extraction, classification, search over your own knowledge base — and we ship those with evaluation harnesses attached.

  • Warehouse and lakehouse design
  • Ingestion and transformation pipelines with lineage and data quality tests
  • Retrieval-augmented applications, document processing, and model evaluation
  • Governance, PII handling, and audit trails for regulated data

04 — Legacy Modernization

Replace the engine without stopping the truck.

The big-bang rewrite is the most expensive failure mode in our industry. We take the opposite approach: put a seam around the old system, move one capability at a time behind it, and keep both running until the last route is migrated and the old code can be deleted without ceremony.

It is slower on a slide and dramatically faster in reality, because you are never more than two weeks from something shippable.

  • Strangler-fig migrations and incremental service extraction
  • Database migration with dual-write, backfill, and reconciliation
  • Mainframe and early-generation framework replacements
  • Test characterization for systems that arrived without any tests

05 — Embedded Product Teams

Capacity that shows up already knowing how to work.

Sometimes the roadmap is clear and the constraint is simply people. We embed a self-sufficient pod — typically a tech lead, two to four engineers, and a fractional designer — into your organization. They use your repositories, attend your ceremonies, and are accountable to your product manager.

Pods are engaged in three-month increments with a 30-day exit clause. If we are not earning the seat, you should not be paying for it.

  • Two- to six-person pods with a named technical lead
  • Three-month terms, 30-day notice, no long-term lock-in
  • Deliberate knowledge transfer — pairing and documentation are in scope
  • Optional fractional CTO and architecture oversight

Engagement models

Pick the shape that matches your risk.

Three ways to work with us, all priced up front. We will tell you which one fits before you ask.

Discovery Sprint

$18,000 / 2 weeks

A fixed-fee investigation ending in an architecture, a delivery plan, and a costed roadmap. Yours to keep and to shop around.

  • Stakeholder and system interviews
  • Architecture & risk assessment
  • Costed, sequenced delivery plan

Delivery Engagement

From $45,000 / month

A dedicated team building toward an agreed outcome, with working software deployed to your environment every two weeks.

  • Named team, fixed monthly rate
  • Fortnightly demos and scope reviews
  • Documentation and handoff included

Advisory Retainer

From $6,500 / month

Architecture review, code review, and a principal engineer on call for the decisions that are hard to reverse.

  • Monthly architecture reviews
  • Hiring and technical due diligence
  • Escalation support within one business day
The toolbox

Boring technology, chosen on purpose.

We pick tools with long support horizons and deep hiring pools, because you will live with these decisions far longer than we will.

Languages & frameworks

Mainstream, widely-hired languages on both the front end and the server, typed wherever it earns its keep.

Data & storage

Relational databases, caching and streaming layers, warehouses, and the transformation pipelines that feed them.

Cloud & operations

All three major clouds, provisioned as code, with containerized delivery pipelines and full-stack observability.

Practices

Trunk-based development, contract testing, infrastructure as code, architecture decision records, threat modeling, and audit-ready controls.

Tell us about the system that’s holding you back.

Every engagement starts with a free 45-minute working session. No pitch deck — we dig into your architecture, your roadmap, and your constraints, then tell you honestly whether we’re the right team for the job.
